The most successful music careers often start off with mixtapes, demos, show performances, etc. So naturally that’s where I started, but I found that I didn’t quite possess the self-confidence, and probably the personality to complete a song. If I made it that far, there was little or no chance of me being bold enough to share it, especially if I was rapping on it. I’ve always loved my music, but I guess I didn’t quite believe in it either. I think it’s because I was looking for other people to believe in it, too. I have experienced a lot of awkward moments that ultimately lead to feelings of rejection when sharing my music. So for a long time I’ve allowed it to shape the world I lived in…but, no more…I have begun to strip the paint off the wall and begin painting my own piece. I am still learning how to properly use colors, but I believe that as long as I hold the brush in my hand. I will create a masterpiece that would allow me to rest peacefully.
…and thats where this project picks up. The Vicenarian Search is a narrative capturing some core emotions which I think we all experience at some time or another. The concept came a little over a year and a half ago when I was putting a few songs together for a mixtape. As I was trying to decide the track order, I noticed that a few of the songs created a narrative feel, if placed in the right order. I found this to be very interesting because I’ve always wanted to create a project that strung together songs into a narrative.
So it seems that the first project I will share with you will be an album instead of a mixtape. In hindsight, there probably wouldn’t have been any other way for me to begin. This project has helped me review and revise so many things in my life that I have found to be essential for me to develop further as an artist. I believe it’s a very unique project! It’s only about 35 minutes long, and a pretty simple listen…hope you’re ready for it!
