Saturday May 4th, 2013 was a coming out occasion for Kendra [LUV]. She put on a concert for releasing her first mixtape “No Games, I Win”. Guest Appereances were made by Shaudy P, Tha Jerzey Boy, and yours truly, Artist Sensey! It was a good turnout, lots of fun, and a good ending or beginning to a journey every artist who means to leave behind something timeless must endure..
Almost a year ago Kendra [LUV] came to me about really wanting to put together a mixtape. She expressed to me how she was having some difficulties with getting it done, and had almost given up hope.. Well.. Thats all I needed to hear to inspire me into working with her. I told her don’t worry about it, we’ll get it done. I’m not sure if I even heard anything by her at the time. But, I felt a peace about it in my spirit.I heard Joyce Meyers say once “Sometimes if your situation allows you to help someone, help them! Don’t just go ‘God, I pray that you will meet their needs’.” There are some things that we can do for others that God doesn’t need to always intervene. Besides, you are probably the person who God wants to use to help them.
Anyhow, we began recording shortly afterwards and from there things began to fall in place. Recording sessions were going well, the mixes were turning out great. I had some equipment issues that got sorted out a lot quicker than usual. I ended up with some new and up to date equipment. It was just a blessing all around. I mean we were developing a healthy work relationship which not only allowed us to creatively express ourselves, we found a space to hone in and work on our craft, all the while being fed in the spirit. The songs are all about developing a true relationship with God, which I think a lot of people don’t actually work on now a days. Instead they settle for a one sided, mostly “take” relationship. So working on this project just brought me closer to God.
It takes a lot of perseverance to put together a personal project. It can be difficult coming across people who will either take you seriously or commit time while you are in your development process. So I am proud of Kendra [LUV] and happy that we were able to complete this project together.
